Terms & Conditions for the Inspiring Teacher of English Award.

  1. Nominations will open on 17 February 2011.
  2. Nomination and endorsement forms are available on www.straitstimes.com and
    www.inspiringenglishteacher.sg.
  3. Nomination forms should be submitted to the nominee’s principal by 24 March 2011 for endorsement and submission. Supporting documents including thank you messages from students or their parents, press reports and other relevant materials can be included.
  4. The principal should not accept nominations received after 24 March. All nominees to be considered for endorsement should be asked to complete the “Nominee’s Submission” (Section A) of the Principal’s Endorsement Form.
  5. Principals may only endorse ONE TEACHER per school regardless of the number of nomination forms received.
  6. As many teachers may receive more than one nomination, schools may submit up to five nomination forms for the school’s nominee with the endorsement form. Additional nomination forms will be discarded.
  7. The nominee will not be considered for the award if the Principal or Head of Department does not submit a write-up as part of the endorsement requirements for the nominee. Please note that the Principal must sign the final endorsement.
  8. Schools should submit the endorsement form with a maximum of 5 nomination forms for their nominee to the Speak Good English Movement by 14 April 2011 at the following address:The Speak Good English Movement

  9. Classroom observations will be conducted in July/August 2011. Final winners will be announced in October 2011.
  10. The teachers should be in service at the time they receive the award.
  11. Up to 10 “Inspiring Teacher of English” awards will be presented every year. Winners will come from Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Junior Colleges and centralized institutes. The judges reserve the right to award fewer than 10 prizes.
  12. Each teacher will receive a $2,000 cash award and a trophy. Their approach to teaching English, where relevant, will be published in Little Red Dot and IN.
